Hennepin Schools is a public K-8 charter school founded in 2012 to ensure all students achieve academic success by developing community builders, confident learners, and cross-cultural navigators. We are seeking a hard working professional for a Grades 5/6 English Language Arts Teacher position to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond. Please send your resume and cover letter to resumes@hennepinschools.org<mailto:resumes@hennepinschools.org> Your Job: As a Grade 5-6 ELA Teacher at Hennepin Schools, you would work with a dynamic team to create and maintain classrooms that support our mission to: > Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths > Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility > Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community > Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap > Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child Duties and Responsibilities: > Teach approximately 95-100 grades 5 and 6 students in four classes with two preps > Develop relationships with one class as the morning and afternoon homeroom teacher through activities, instruction, and presentations > Serve on a core content team with 7 other teachers, including a team lead, an instructional coach, and interventionists > Use MN State Standards to implement appropriate daily lesson plans designed to maximize every student&#8217;s potential > Implement the school-wide Whole Child discipline policy > Participate in all team-wide meetings and professional development > Other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications and Requirements: > MN Teacher's License > Ability to interact well with staff, students and families > Strong behavior management skills > Strong literacy content and instructional knowledge > Experience working with students of color > Detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask > Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor > Excellent planning and organizational skills > Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments > Sense of accountability and ownership for work results > Knowledge of the following computer applications: Smartboard Notebook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) > Ability to maintain status of &#8220;not disqualified&#8221; upon completion of criminal background and MN disciplinary incidence research > Highly preferred bilingual or multilingual, Pashto, Spanish or Somali preferred > Highly preferred minimum of two years teaching experience Compensation Hennepin Schools salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience.
