Community School of Excellence (CSE) is a Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade Hmong Language and Culture Charter school that is a family. Job Summary
The Reading Interventionist will provide coordination, collaboration, strategies, and instruction, to ensure each student receives the maximum benefit from the reading and literacy programs at Community School of Excellence. Additionally, the Reading Interventionist will push-in to classrooms and assist with both small group and large group instruction. The Reading Interventionist may, at times, have small group pull-out instruction and could work with students one-on-one.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction in reading/literacy for identified groups and individual students.
Develop criteria for identification of students in need of literacy support and the levels of support.
Provide training and on-going support to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals for reading instruction.
Coordinate and supervise reading assessments.
Maintain a comprehensive inventory of literacy instructional materials and resources
Maintain records and track reading/literacy student assessment data
Participate in collaborative literacy instructional planning and teaching
Actively participate in team meetings and Professional Learning Communities
Value teaching in diverse cultural settings
Is a forward, solutions-based thinker
Participate in parent conferences and provide instructional suggestions, as needed.
Provide feedback to teachers and administrators on the school’s reading/literacy program.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s in Reading/Literacy Instruction and/or Reading Education Certificate
A valid Minnesota teaching license and/or valid Minnesota Reading Interventionist license (preferred)
At least 3 years experience teaching reading and/or literacy
2+ years experience in reading or literacy Interventions preferred
Experience working with a diverse school population, specifically Hmong, preferred
