Position Overview:
Kennedy Elementary is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-centered Restorative-Focused Paraprofessional to support both the behavioral and academic growth of our students. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building strong relationships, fostering a positive school climate, and using restorative approaches to help students re-engage socially, emotionally, and academically.
The paraprofessional will work closely with teachers, the student support team, and principal to guide students through restorative practices, assist with classroom instruction, and ensure students have the tools and support needed to succeed in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:
* Build trusting relationships with students to foster a sense of safety, belonging, and connection.
* Support students in resolving conflicts through restorative conversations and problem-solving practices.
* Provide support to students needing breaks, reflection time, or reentry after challenging moments.
* Collaborate with teachers to identify students needing additional support to access learning or re-engage with classroom tasks.
* Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement proactive behavior supports in classrooms and common spaces.
* Support a safe and inclusive school environment aligned with our schoolwide expectations: Cooperate, Act Responsibly, Respect, and Empathy (CARE)
* Monitor student behavior and engagement in the classroom and common areas, offering support and redirection as needed.
* Model and coach social-emotional and self-regulation strategies in both structured and informal settings.
* Document behavioral and academic interventions to support team planning and progress monitoring.
* Attend team meetings and training related to restorative practices, behavior support, and trauma-informed care.

* High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s Degree or two years of college (preferred).
* Experience working with children in an educational or youth development setting.
* Knowledge of or willingness to learn restorative practices or similar student-centered behavior approaches.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to stay calm and supportive during challenging student behaviors.
* Commitment to equity and supporting all students in a positive and respectful manner.
