You are welcome at Hopkins. You belong at Hopkins. SUMMARY: Completes all screening components according to the Early Childhood Screening Program Standards set by the MN Dept. of Health and MDE. Screenings will be conducted in either English or Somali. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. * Conducts screening, using standardized screening instruments and assessments, in accordance with state mandates and practices, including vision, hearing, development, social-emotional, and speech. * Maintains accurate records for each screening appointment, completes all data entry and documentation requirements. * Makes connections with young children and their families, communicates findings, and makes recommendations or referrals based on the results of the screening. * Collects and organizes the data necessary for preparation of the Minnesota State Early Childhood Screening Report. * Maintains an awareness of school and community resources in order to make appropriate referrals. * Supports the two-way referral process between Early Childhood Screening and Early Childhood Special Education. * Maintains confidentiality of children and families * Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in education, or a closely related field Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. * Driver&#8217;s license. * MN License in at least one of the following areas: * special education teacher * school psychologist * kindergarten teacher * prekindergarten teacher * school nurse * public health nurse * registered nurse Required Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge: * Fluency in the Somali language. * District policies and procedures. * Family dynamic factors, risk factors, as well as the typical and atypical development of young children. * Physical health assessments and immunization requirements for young children. * Computer applications related to the work. * Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. Required Skills: * Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software. * Communicating effectively verbally and in writing. * Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities. * Commitment to the District mission, which is to ensure high quality, innovative, challenging education where all learners are valued and respected. * Performing assigned responsibilities in a manner consistent with the District&#8217;s established Core Values. * Advancing the District&#8217;s mission and values through careful attention to the key issues of Learning, Environment, and Resources.
