Gideon Pond Elementary is seeking a collaborative and equity-driven School Social Worker to serve our diverse student population from preschool through fifth grade. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who will work in partnership with students, families, staff, and the community to promote student well-being, school engagement, and academic success.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Identify and assess barriers to learning and well-being for students and families.
* Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to students through individual and group interventions.
* Collaborate with school staff to design and implement proactive supports that promote positive behavior and inclusive practices.
* Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community agencies to mobilize and coordinate resources that meet the needs of students and families.
* Participate in problem-solving teams, special education evaluations, and the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
* Lead and support family engagement efforts, including culturally responsive outreach and communication.
* Uphold ethical and professional standards in accordance with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications:
* Licensed as a School Social Worker in the state of Minnesota (Tier 3 or 4 preferred).
* Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
* Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and restorative practices.
* Experience working with elementary-aged students in diverse school settings.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bilingual or multilingual skills
* Experience with PBIS, MTSS, and/or trauma-informed practice
* Knowledge of community-based services and supports for families
