Organizational Description
Community School of Excellence (CSE) is a Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade Hmong Language and Culture Charter school that is a family. Job Summary
The Health Specialist will support the Health and Wellness Nurse in the Health Office. The Health Specialist will
administer first aid services to students and staff. The Health Specialist will communicate with parents and teachers in
regards to student health matters. The Health Specialist will help enter and monitor student health records in accordance
to MN state regulations.
Responsibilities
Health office support (60%)
Will be in the health office 100% during the school year to provide minor health related aid to students.
Supports the Health and Wellness Nurse in the health office to provide minor health related aid to students.
Perform first aid services to students as needed for injuries; attend to students with soiled clothing, and other
minor medical injuries that do not require major medical attention.
Provide medically prescribed services to students as needed
Correspond with parents on health needs of children
Contact families of school incidents or emergencies
Maintain a running log of all visits to the office
Coordinate immunization records
Manages the Infinite Campus portion of health records
Contracts families as needed.
Documents incident reports and family contact
Student Health Records (20%).
Record and perform data entry of immunization, health findings, and other relevant health data
Audits, periodically, children’s health records in order to assure the delivery of quality services and
documentation of services provided
Operations Support: (20%)
Assist with enrollment support of student records, making phone calls to families and other tasks as needed.
Support in answering and covering the front desk as needed.
Support with Operational needs during the times that students are not in the building including but not limited to breaks and summer time.
Provide a clean work environment in accordance to health regulations
Maintain inventory and security of school health supplies
Assist the main office when needed.
Perform other job duties assigned by supervisor
Position Specifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Bilingual in English and Hmong, Karen or Karenni preferred
Experience and aptitude working with young children
High level of patience and ability to calmly and clearly redirect and guide young children
Demonstrated multi-cultural experience and ability to communicate with Limited-English speakers
Demonstrates superior judgment in all aspects of work.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player.
Familiarity and comfort with electronic forms of communication, including ready access and responsiveness to email correspondence.
Qualifications
AA degree or Certified Nursing Assistant License
Minimum of 2-year experience, especially in a medical facility. Ability to speak conversational Hmong
Knowledge of Hmong culture and issues facing Southeast Asian communities, especially Hmong families. Commitment to building the strengths of immigrant/refugee families.
