JOB SUMMARY: Provides professional expertise to plan, develop, and execute individual learning programs and experiences to help each student reach their full potential. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: &#9679; Provides a basic core program for special education students consistent with state education code requirements. &#9679; Participates in transition planning and preparation for everyday experiences. &#9679; Works cooperatively with classroom teachers who have students who receive services in their classes, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to essential staff members and assisting the students with class assignments. &#9679; Assists in screening, evaluation, and recommendation of student placements in the school&#8217;s Special Education program. &#9679; Attends meetings and writes evaluations, IEPs, and progress reports. &#9679; Directs day-to-day activities of special education paraprofessionals assigned to class and educates paraprofessional support staff with regards to implementing students&#8217; IEPs. &#9679; Generates goals and objectives directly related to identified student needs in collaboration with support staff. &#9679; Assists students in making realistic assessments of their abilities and establishes educational and occupational goals within these abilities. &#9679; Maintains attendance records and other records pertinent to the Special Education program for local, state or federal reports. &#9679; Evaluates and selects books, equipment, and instructional aids and supplies and maintains required inventory records. &#9679; Obtains and uses evaluative findings to determine program effectiveness and to ensure program renewal is continuous and responds to student&#8217;s needs. &#9679; Participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). &#9679; Attends staff meetings as well as serves on staff and district committees as requested. &#9679; Participates in various meetings (e.g., parent conferences, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information. &#9679; Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities/areas as assigned. &#9679; Uses data to make informed decisions about students regarding behavior and academics. &#9679; Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records including attendance reports, and other records, as necessary. &#9679; Collaborates with other department staff to develop lesson plans, teaching strategies and interventions. &#9679; Creates an environment conducive to learning and that is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. &#9679; Interacts in a positive, constructive manner with students, families, teaching assistants and other professionals. &#9679; Models the district Vision of &#8220;all means all&#8221; and demonstrates a willingness to become an active contributor to the school culture and our continual school improvement process. &#9679; Demonstrates knowledge around state standards, PBIS, restorative practices, technology to support students, and professionalism. &#9679; Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, other professional activities as required by the district, and self-selected professional growth activities. &#9679; Demonstrates proficiency in the WI Educator Standards, district teaching expectations and delivery of the WI content standards for Special Education, and federal or state laws pertaining to students. &#9679; Performs all other duties as assigned by Administration. Assessment for and of Learning &#9679; Systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders. 1. Learning Environment &#9679; Uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning. 1. Professionalism &#9679; Demonstrates behavior consistent with legal, ethical, and professional standards, contributes to the profession, and engages in professional growth that results in improved student learning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: &#9679; Valid Early Childhood Special Education License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). &#9679; Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Education or Special Education. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: &#9679; Experience working as a Special Education Teacher. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Capable on a continuous basis of standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, twisting; repetitive movement of both hands and feet; seeing with both near and far visual acuity and to hear. 2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Valid Early Childhood Special Education License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

  Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Special Education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  Experience working as a Special Education Teacher.
