Oak Hill Montessori Community School (OHMCS) is a public charter school serving children ages 16 months through 8th grade. With a foundation built on over 60 years of Montessori tradition, OHMCS transitioned to a charter model in 2021 to broaden access to authentic Montessori education. Our lower school is tuition-based, and our upper school (grades 1–8) is tuition-free.

Position Summary
Oak Hill Montessori Community School is seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The ideal candidate brings a student-centered, collaborative approach and is committed to supporting the individual needs of each learner in alignment with our Montessori philosophy and school mission.
This position includes designing and delivering individualized instruction, coordinating IEPs and evaluations, and working closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families. Our small school environment allows for manageable caseloads and provides built-in support for due process compliance.
This is a full-time, exempt position aligned with the 10-month academic calendar. Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement individualized instruction to support academic, behavioral, and functional skill development
Lead and manage the IEP process, collaborating with families and service providers to develop appropriate student goals and programming
Develop and adapt instructional materials to accommodate student learning styles and needs
Conduct special education evaluations, including planning, data collection, and reporting
Monitor and assess student progress using data-driven decision-making
Implement positive behavior interventions and support pro-social development
Direct and support paraprofessionals in implementing student plans
Maintain timely and accurate documentation aligned with due process requirements and state/federal regulations
Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to ensure successful inclusion and support for students with disabilities
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent education events, and student conferences
Communicate regularly and effectively with families and community resources to ensure wraparound support
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's preferred)
Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license
Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEPs, 504 plans, and due process procedures
Demonstrated ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
AMI Montessori training or experience in Montessori environments
At least two years of experience in special education
Experience in a charter or public school setting
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
