STARBASE Minnesota, Inc. is a leading nonprofit organization with a mission to educate and inspire youth in STEM and help develop the next generation of STEM professionals. We deliver the Department of Defense (DoD) STARBASE program on the Minnesota Air National Guard base in St. Paul, providing students with a one-of-a-kind, immersive learning experience.
Serving over 3,500 students annually, we partner with 40+ schools and 18 STEM-focused corporations to deliver engaging, standards-aligned programming that sparks curiosity, builds real-world skills, and supports long-term academic and career success. Our programs are known for their innovation, impact, and outstanding student outcomes.

* Schedule: Year-round; approx. hours 7:30 AM–4:00 PM

What You’ll Do
Teaching & Curriculum
* Deliver engaging STEM lessons to 5th graders (4–6 in summer).
* Design and refine curriculum aligned with state/national standards.
* Integrate real-world STEM applications and career exploration.
* Analyze student data to improve instruction and outcomes.
Organizational & Program Support
In addition to teaching, instructors contribute to STARBASE’s broader mission through specialized roles and projects. All instructors are assigned one or more of the following:
* Volunteer Coordination – Engage and manage military and STEM professionals who support classroom activities and career exploration.
* Technology Support – Assist with classroom tech, software, and emerging tools like VR/AR and CAD.
* Social Media– Help share STARBASE’s impact through digital storytelling, outreach, and community engagement.
* Mentor Program Coordination – Support after-school mentoring initiatives (STARBASE 2.0) and student extension activities.
* Pre-Service Educator Engagement – Host and mentor future educators through field experiences and partnerships.
* STEM Kit Development – Contribute to the design, assembly, and distribution of STARBASE’s “Destination Mars” STEM kits, reaching 35,000+ students statewide.
* Program Innovation – Collaborate on new initiatives, grants, and partnerships that expand STARBASE’s reach and impact.
* Program Documentation – Create and revise student learning materials including student mission logs.
* Modifications and Instructional Supports – Review curriculum and develop modifications and supports to make materials accessible to all learners.
What We’re Looking For
* Valid Tier 3 or Tier 4 MN teaching license (Elementary Ed, Middle School Math/Science, Secondary Science, STEM, etc)
* Passion for STEM and student-centered learning
* Experience in curriculum development and assessment
* Strong tech skills or willingness to learn (CAD, AR/VR, robotics, etc.)
* Ability to connect with diverse learners and adapt to varied learning styles
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
* STEM licensure or background in STEM fields
* Familiarity with MN State Standards and national STEM frameworks
* Experience with educational technology and data analysis
