If you are passionate about education and community, we invite you to join our team! ________________________________ Food Service Director Position Summary The Director of Food Service is responsible for implementing and supervising all functions of the district's Child Nutrition Program. This includes providing oversight of the program's daily operations, developing food menus that meet USDA and National School Lunch Program requirements, and evaluating meal program participation, meal acceptability, and financial operations Primary Responsibilities Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: * Program and Operations * Establish and promote the vision and goals of the child nutrition department. * Assign work, monitor work operations, set work priorities, determine and define work requirements or positions within the food and nutrition services department. * Plan and write nutritious meals and snack menus in compliance with USDA, Federal and State guidelines using USDA approved nutritional menu planning analysis software. * Coordinate and oversee distribution, review and approval of free/reduced meal benefit applications. Provide information regarding eligibly guidelines and meal prices for free/reduced meal program. * Establish and monitor food service standards for food production, food and non-food procurement and maintenance. * Personnel Management and Supervision * Supervise all child nutrition staff assigned to 5 schools directly through coordination with kitchen managers. * Review and approve weekly time sheets and time off requests. * Provide staff training for food and physical safety, sanitation, food production techniques and equipment operation. * Provide guidance to staff regarding mandatory Professional Standard requirements and certification with SNA. * Interview and select new food service staff with input from head cooks. * Counsel, train and direct head cooks with problem solving, personnel issues and operational issues. * Facilitate monthly head cook meetings to test new foods, recipes, and menu ideas. * Budget Management and Purchasing * Coordinate and participate in the preparation and submission of records and reports required by the school district, USDA and the State of Minnesota. * Monitor revenue and expenditures for food service program in conjunction with the Finance Department. * Coordinate with the Finance department to determine meal prices. * Coordinate ordering and purchasing of food, supplies and food service equipment. * Establish standards and procedures for receiving, storing and inventory of food and non-food supplies. * Research and submit proposals for grants that are related to school food service. * Ensure monthly state claims are processed in a timely manner. * Assist with audits related to all matters pertaining to food and nutrition services. * Communications * Market Child and Nutrition Program to students, parents, staff and public. * Develop and implement marketing plans to improve participation in the district&#8217;s food service program. * Ensure district families receive relevant information about district child and nutrition programs. * Knowledge and Skill Requirements: * Knowledge in food production, purchasing, inventory and food preparation techniques and methods. * Knowledge of nutritional quality of foods and related guidelines. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Ability to implement and model the district vision and strategic goals. * Ability to provide courteous customer service relations. * Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, and staff. * Intermediate to advanced computer skills * Administrative skills involved in overseeing multiple sites. * Ability to lead, direct, supervise and discipline subordinates when necessary. * Knowledge of budget development and management * Knowledge of food service procedures, practices and equipment. * Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices. * Knowledge of food service trends and issues at the local, state and national levels * Knowledge of district administrative policies, procedures and standards. * Ability to lead, direct and supervise other food service employees. * Knowledge of food service procedures, practices and equipment. * Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation. * Knowledge of SNA Certification and Professional Standards Requirements for all food service staff and positions. Minimum Qualifications 1. Education: * Associate degree in nutrition, food service management, culinary arts, dietetics, or a related field. * OR high school diploma or GED with equivalent experience in food service leadership roles. 2. Experience: * At least 3 years of experience in institutional food service operations, preferably in a K-12 setting. * Supervisory experience overseeing multiple kitchen teams and/or satellite locations. 3. Certifications: * Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire). * Valid driver&#8217;s license and ability to travel between buildings. 4. Knowledge & Skills: * Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations (NSLP, SBP, etc.). * Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. * Budgeting, inventory management, and procurement skills. * Basic proficiency with nutrition software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.). 5. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift 40 pounds. * Capable of standing for extended periods and navigating kitchen environments in all buildings. ________________________________ Preferred Qualifications 1. Education: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree in nutrition, dietetics, business administration, or food service management. * Registered Dietitian (RD) or School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) certification. 2. Experience: * 5+ years of experience managing multi-site school nutrition programs. * Experience with state-level audits and compliance reviews. * Experience with menu planning using nutrient analysis software. 3. Leadership & Management: * Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, implement cost-saving measures, and improve operational efficiency. * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 4. Technology: * Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, online meal application processing, and digital inventory systems. 5. Program Development: * Experience implementing Farm to School programs, wellness initiatives, or community partnerships. 1. * Ability to develop training programs for food service staff. Salary and Benefits The starting pay for this position is between $74,187 - $89,211 and your initial placement is dependent on your qualifications (education and years of relevant experience). Food Service Director

Position Summary

The Director of Food Service is responsible for implementing and supervising all functions of the district's Child Nutrition Program.
