Paynesville Area Schools is in search of a K-12 Academic Specialist for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Pay range: $45,706 - $82,835 per year

The Academic Specialist is a person licensed by Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board as a teacher of reading, a special education teacher, or a kindergarten through grade 6 teacher, who has completed professional development approved by the Department of Education in structured literacy who has expertise in working with educators as adult learners. This position supports district implementation of the Minnesota READ Act legislation. In addition to READ Act implementation, this position will support the implementation of the ADSIS program, Title Program, and CEIS program.
Responsibilities include:
* Collaborate with district administration and a Regional Literacy Lead.
* Provide support to interventionists.
* Support the implementation of Structured Literacy, interventions, curriculum delivery, and teacher training and professional development.
* Assist with the development of personal learning plans for students unable to demonstrate grade-level proficiency.
* Support the training of paraprofessionals and other support staff to support classroom literacy instruction.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in reading, education, special education, or related field
* Licensed by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) as a teacher of reading, a special education teacher, or a kindergarten through grade six teacher
* Minimum five years experience in English Language Arts instruction or related fields such as psychology and speech-language pathology
* Systems Level Leadership or comparable experience
* Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating district wide initiatives and professional learning
* Experience in working with diverse groups, leadership teams, addressing inequities and supporting change and transformation in systems
* Data Collection/Analysis
* Completion of one of the MDE approved Professional Development programs (CAREIALL, OL&LA or LETRS for Educators)
* Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Education and Experience:
* Master’s degree in reading, education, special education, or related field
* LETRS/OL&LA/CAREIALL Certification or Certified Facilitator
