Job: Float Cook - 5 hrs/day assigned location may vary each day Job Summary: Come join our Child Nutrition Professionals and work as part of a team who cares about serving students healthy food options. Prepares, produces and serves a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry or frozen states according to recipes and assists in other related tasks in a designated food service production and/or service area. This position will work at a variety of schools. The position is responsible for preparing fruits and vegetables, assisitng in preparing the daily entree, assigned cleaning tasks, washing dishes, and serving meals to students. Should possess a positive attitude, attention to detail, flexibility, and willing to work with team members.This service is done in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring in accordance with the requirements of the MN State Department of Education, USDA, school budget and policies. Essential Job Duties 1. Prepares, assembles and serves assigned menu items to students, staff, and guests. This can include but not limited to cutting fruits and vegetables, preparing sandwiches, preparing hot vegetables, putting out condiments, preparing snacks, and preparing breakfast. 2. Operates kitchen equipment such as but not limited to Robo Coupe, Sectionizer, warmers, coolers, convection ovens. dishwasher and three compartment sink. 3. Utilizes kitchenware but not limited to knives, spatulas, cutting boards, whisks, tongs, spoons, spoodles, and dishers. 4. Responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks including but not limited to washing dishes, operating the dishwasher, using the three-compartment sink, sanitizing workstations, breaking down boxes, and serving lines between lunch periods. 5. Maintains positive customer relationships with students, staff, team members, and guests. 6. Setting up and merchandise the serving lines with the correct utensils, trays, napkins, silverware and menu items. 7. Serves assigned items to customers and operating point of sale stations as assigned by cook manager and based on daily production needs. 8. Replenishes food items including fruits, vegetables, cold entree or hot entree during and between lunch periods. Qualifications: 1. HS diploma or equivalent. 2. Level 1 School Nutrition Certification is preferred (must be obtained within 1 year of appointments) 3. Previous food service expereince preferred 4. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast paced environment 5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills 6. Ability to take direction of supervisor(s) 7.
