Job Description
Cyber Village Academy has an opening for a full time Special Education Behavior Interventionist. The ideal candidate is licensed in ABS or EBD, is familiar with a variety of face-to-face and online instructional techniques, and is interested in a flexible, small school environment working with a close team of teachers, paraprofessionals and service providers. Job responsibilities
Manage dedicated space that provides behavior support to students receiving special education services in a K-12 school. Provide direct behavior intervention strategies to students and staff for on-campus and online school settings, buses, and off-site activities, including but not limited to the following:
Effectively communicate with all stakeholders impacted by a behavior issue, within necessary timeframes.
Collaborate with administrative staff and case managers in determining appropriate disciplinary outcomes.
Conduct thorough functional behavior assessments to support individualized student needs.
Develop, monitor, and adjust individualized positive behavior support plans.
Participate in due process meetings as needed to support the effective implementation of behavior interventions.
Collaborate with administrative staff in investigating and responding to complaints of bullying or other behavior problems in both the on-campus and online settings.
Provide direct support for classrooms dealing with significant behavior needs.
Lead professional development for teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators and other staff members related to behavior management techniques and initiatives.
Actively support the use of restorative practices as a core component of our culture as well as all policies related to discipline.
Provide direct students services as determined by the IEP team.
Small caseload management as needed.
Comply with the Minnesota Code of Ethics for Teachers.
Qualifications
Special Education Teacher’s license, EBD or ABS preferred
3-5 years of experience in the classroom or working with behavior preferred
High degree of integrity and professionalism
Trained in CPI or similar restrictive procedures protocols, or willingness to complete training
Experience with classroom and school-wide behavior management programs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail in order to ensure compliance with all state and federal reporting requirements related to student discipline.
Able to maintain and model a calm demeanor when dealing with stressful situations.
Able to manage multiple tasks and complex relationships in a fast-paced environment
Experience in online education and instructional technology preferred
Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
Reports to: Special Education Director
Pay: Based on education, years of experience, and performance
