Saint John's Preparatory School invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Activities and Athletics Director to begin immediately. Saint John's Preparatory School is a Catholic/Benedictine, co-educational, day and boarding International Baccalaureate college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12, with boarding options beginning in the 9th grade. Saint John's Prep is located on the 3,000 acres of woods and lakes of Saint John's University's campus in central Minnesota. The Activities Director at Saint John&#8217;s Prep provides visionary leadership and hands-on management for all student athletic and co-curricular programs in grades 6&#8211;12. This position plays a vital role in shaping the student experience by fostering inclusive, competitive, and values-driven programs that support the school&#8217;s mission and commitment to whole-person education. The Activities Director oversees all aspects of program operations&#8212;from hiring and supervising coaches, coordinating schedules, and managing facilities use, to communicating with families and promoting student wellness and equity in participation. In partnership with school leadership, faculty, and SJP families, the Activities Director ensures that students are supported in meeting activity requirements while also cultivating school spirit and community engagement. Responsibilities: 1. Lead and Supervise Grades 6&#8211;12 Athletics and Activities Programs Provide overall direction, oversight, and leadership for all extracurricular athletic and activity programs, including intramurals, ensuring alignment with the school&#8217;s mission and Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) policies. 2. Recruit, Train, and Supervise Coaches and Advisors Recruit, recommend, hire, evaluate, and, if necessary, terminate coaches and activity supervisors. Provide training and guidance aligned with Saint John&#8217;s Prep expectations and ensure appropriate support staff are secured for games and events. 3. Coordinate Scheduling of Athletic and Activity Events Schedule all interschool athletics, practices, and activities, in coordination with co-op partners and the After School Program. Approve schedules in collaboration with the Dean of Student Life and Principal and communicate changes as needed. 4. Oversee Game and Contest Management Manage all aspects of home and away contests including: * Hiring, confirming, and paying game officials * Coordinating game day staff (e.g., scorers, timers, announcers) * Arranging transportation, meals, and lodging when needed * Confirming facilities, locker rooms, and equipment * Hosting and supporting visiting teams 5. Maintain and Supervise Facilities and Equipment Oversee the use and maintenance of all athletic facilities (gyms, courts, fields) and supervise staff responsible for groundskeeping. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all supplies and equipment and ensure proper storage post-events. 6. Budget Management and Planning Prepare and manage the activities and athletics budget, including long-range planning. Submit itemized annual budget requests to the Dean of Student Life and Principal and oversee purchasing of supplies, uniforms, awards, and other program needs. 7. Partner with Co-Op Programs Coordinate and maintain relationships with co-op schools to provide athletic opportunities not offered directly by Saint John&#8217;s Prep. 8. Ensure Compliance and Eligibility Oversee student eligibility, interpret and communicate eligibility policies to students and families, and administer physical examination requirements and health clearances for athletes. 9. Promote and Publicize Programs Manage internal and external communication related to athletics and activities, including schedules, achievements, and news coverage. Publish a comprehensive calendar of events and ensure clear communication with families, students, faculty, and the wider community. 10. Support Equity, Safety, and Inclusion Nurture a positive, inclusive, and equitable environment in all programs, ensuring student safety, respect, and the promotion of fair play. 11. Partner with Faculty and School Leaders Collaborate with faculty to support student-athletes' academic success and well-being. Serve as a resource to staff on programmatic matters and hold regular meetings to align on goals and issues. 12. Teach Health and Physical Education Instruct assigned Health and Physical Education classes integrating wellness principles aligned with the school&#8217;s mission. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and online resources. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. Evaluate and grade students&#8217; class work, assignments, projects, and papers in a timely manner. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records daily. 13. Maintain Records and Reports Prepare required reports for the Athletic Department and school administration. Monitor intramural requirements for grades 9&#8211;12 and maintain accurate program records. 14. Attend Meetings and Represent the School Participate in MSHSL, district, and other professional meetings and events that support program excellence and ensure SJP&#8217;s strong presence in the broader activities community. 15. Collaborate on Student Life Initiatives Work in close partnership with the Dean of Student Life to cultivate a vibrant, engaged student community through co-curricular and extracurricular programming. 16. Track and Support Completion of Student Activity Requirements Monitor students&#8217; participation to ensure they meet Saint John&#8217;s Prep&#8217;s activities requirements and provide individual guidance and support to assist them in completing these expectations. 17. Travel Requirements Occasional travel for tournament games. 18. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in a related field DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master&#8217;s Degree in Educational Leadership, Sports Management, or a related field K-12 Administrative License, preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1.
