BSM is seeking a Costume Designer for the 2025-26 school year. Compensation for this position will be approximately $2,000 per production.

Position Overview
The Costume Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing costumes for four theatrical productions a year. We are looking to fill the following three for the 2025–2026 school year and potentially all four moving forward:
● Middle School Production: Alice in Wonderland, Jr. (Fall 2025)
● High School One-Act Competition Play: Umm… I Think the Psych Teacher is Dead (Winter 2026)
● High School Spring Musical: Title TBD (Spring 2026)
The Costume Designer will collaborate closely with the theatre director(s), technical director, student costume crew, and production team to bring each show’s vision to life while working within the allotted budget.
Responsibilities
● Develop costume design concepts that reflect the vision of the director and the needs of each production.
● Sketch, source, construct, and/or alter costumes as needed for each show.
● Organize and maintain costume inventory and rentals.
● Manage a costume budget for each production, making cost-effective choices while maintaining quality.
● Supervise and mentor student crew members during work calls, fittings, and performances.
● Coordinate costume fittings and alterations for cast members.
● Ensure all costumes are properly maintained, cleaned, and returned after productions.
● Attend production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals as scheduled.
Qualifications
● Previous experience in costume design or costume coordination (educational or professional).
● Strong sewing, alteration, and costume construction skills.
● Ability to creatively source costumes using rentals, purchases, and stock.
● Strong organizational and communication skills.
● Experience working with middle and high school students is preferred.
● Commitment to fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment.
