BSM is seeking a Costume Designer for the 2025-26 school year. Compensation for this position will be approximately $2,000 per production. We are looking to fill the following three for the 2025&#8211;2026 school year and potentially all four moving forward: &#9679; Middle School Production: Alice in Wonderland, Jr. (Fall 2025) &#9679; High School One-Act Competition Play: Umm&#8230; I Think the Psych Teacher is Dead (Winter 2026) &#9679; High School Spring Musical: Title TBD (Spring 2026) The Costume Designer will collaborate closely with the theatre director(s), technical director, student costume crew, and production team to bring each show&#8217;s vision to life while working within the allotted budget. Responsibilities &#9679; Develop costume design concepts that reflect the vision of the director and the needs of each production. &#9679; Sketch, source, construct, and/or alter costumes as needed for each show. &#9679; Organize and maintain costume inventory and rentals. &#9679; Manage a costume budget for each production, making cost-effective choices while maintaining quality. &#9679; Supervise and mentor student crew members during work calls, fittings, and performances. &#9679; Coordinate costume fittings and alterations for cast members. &#9679; Ensure all costumes are properly maintained, cleaned, and returned after productions. &#9679; Attend production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals as scheduled. Qualifications &#9679; Previous experience in costume design or costume coordination (educational or professional). &#9679; Strong sewing, alteration, and costume construction skills. &#9679; Ability to creatively source costumes using rentals, purchases, and stock. &#9679; Strong organizational and communication skills. &#9679; Experience working with middle and high school students is preferred. &#9679; Commitment to fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment.
