Required Qualifications:
* High School graduate or equivalent and one to three years experience in office capacity.
* Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff, students, and community.
* Ability to read and interpret documents, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to speak effectively and interact positively with staff, students, parents, community and vendors.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Proficiency with computers and related software/hardware.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Responsibilities:
* Performs multiple clerical functions simultaneously such as drafting correspondence, typing, answering phones, distributing mail, operating office equipment, filing, creating posters and publications, updating information kept on computer, greeting visitors, and assisting students, staff, parents and visitors.
* Maintain records on computer such as scholarship offerings, school calendar, course information, course offerings, parking permits and student information.
* Monitor, record and provide information to appropriate staff on a variety of student records such as attendance, report card information, class registration, school resources, testing information, class lists, student directory information, school pictures. Verify absence with parent.
* Distribute information to staff and students such as homebound instruction materials and homework assignments.
* At the elementary schools, administers first aid to sick or injured students when other health personnel are not available according to the guidelines set forth by the district and under the direction of school nurse. Administers medication with approval of parent or doctor.
* Recruit and monitor work of students or volunteers.
* Maintain schedules of keys, lockers, rooms, equipment, parent conferences, supervisor, and/or teachers. Maintain inventory of supplies used, needed, or purchased. Orders supplies and checks in orders and restocks supplies. Verify account charges, post information to accounts and monitors budgets. May maintain petty cash fund.
* Coordinate special projects such as field trips, student registration, parking permits and busses. Prepare reports or gather information for reports.
* Process employment forms; secure substitutes for employees in emergencies; train teachers on use of substitute calling system; verify and process time cards.
* Other duties as assigned such as making room arrangements, scheduling appointments and speakers, greeting and providing information to visitors, supervising students, assisting other department personnel, and other office related activities.
