Description:
Performs a variety of schoolkeeping tasks including the following: empty wastebaskets, dust surfaces, clean glass, mop floors and vacuum carpets, wax floors, spot clean spills/stains on floors; wash walls, clean washroom fixtures and floors, clean classrooms, mow and water lawns, pick-up debris, remove snow from sidewalks, and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school education OR GED equivalent; working knowledge of team cleaning techniques--standardized work process working with four basic specialists; working knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, cleaning products and equipment; one year custodial/housekeeping experience; maintenance skills in oder to respond to urgent situations; ability to perform manual tasks requiring good physical strength (ability to lift 70 lbs. on a regular basis); ability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, burnishers, vacuum cleaners, sweepers, etc; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students and building staff, and good human relations skills. Some Weekends possible. Boiler license preferred.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a school environment, utilizing standard equipment and requiring stamina to sit for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. The job also requires vision to read printed materials and computer screens, as well as hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person or over the telephone.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a school setting. Occasional travel is required to locations throughout the District.
