Summary: Lac qui Parle School District #2853 is seeking a Finance Director. The Director of Finance oversees the finance operations of the district be establishing, monitoring, and administering budget processes, managing investments and directing all accounting processes. Salary: Starting salary negotiable based on experience Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities * Estimate revenues and expenditures for all district funds * Establish guidelines and procedures for the budgeting process * Assist departments in completing the budget process * Calculate and maintain records of enrollment and pupil units for use in planning budgets and personnel needs * Complete levy calculations and documents for presentation to the school board and at truth-in-taxation meetings and for submission to county auditors and MDE * Prepare and submit the aid anticipation borrowing documents to maximize the benefits to the district * Prepare preliminary and final budget documents for presentation to the school board and for submission to MDE * Monitor the budget process throughout the fiscal year and make reports to the superintendent and school board * Invest school district funds in an appropriate and effective manner * Provide information to the superintendent as requested for preparing recommendations to the school board regarding contract negotiations * Provide information to the superintendent as requested for preparing recommendations to the school board regarding annual budget adjustments * Provide information to the superintendent as requested for preparing recommendations to the school board regarding major purchases or major maintenance projects * Maintain current records of open enrollment data * Maintain current records of tuition students * Prepare tuition billings for distribution to other school districts * Complete and submit documents required for the Health and Safety Program * Complete and submit the annual transportation report to MDE * Maintain an inventory of the district&#8217;s assets in a manner consistent with governmental accounting practices * Code expenditure to the appropriate funds, programs and objects according to UFARS accounting procedures * Complete and submit all forms required for federal programs * Provide documents and information for the auditors as requested * Supervise staff involved in the district&#8217;s accounting / fiscal processes * Attend school board meeting to present current financial information * Other duties assigned by the superintendent Qualifications * Knowledge of Minnesota school finance laws, procedures and requirements * Ability to supervise other staff involved in the district&#8217;s accounting / fiscal processes * Ability to complete tasks in a timely and orderly manner. * Ability to organize finance information for easy access and reference. * Ability to use computer programs for fiscal and data management. * Ability to communicate effectively with staff students, parents and visitors. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Estimate revenues and expenditures for all district funds
