Instrumental/Vocal Music Instructor K-12         Job Description

 

Reports to:  Nicollet High School Principal and K-8 Principal
Term:  182 Days per year
 

Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the overall program of vacal and instrumental music for the district k-12. 

For the 25-26 school year the main focus will be secondary band, middle school band, and fifth grade band lessons.  The Director will work collaboratively with the elementary general music teacher and the middle / high school choir assistant director.  The teacher will be expected to engage with students and foster an interactive learning environment. The teacher will work collaboratively to plan and prepare opportunities for students to perform for the community. 

As director, the teacher will provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band and vocal activities and ensure compliance with all MSHSL and district requirements.  Collaboratively plan activities to achieve district, region, state and national recognition.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
Master’s degree optional
Valid Minnesota teaching certificate
The district will pay for experience

    

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental/vocal music program K-12
Ability to fund raise and manage a budget
Ability to plan a traveling experience 9-12
Ability to implement policy and procedures of Nicollet School Board
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
