Position Purpose:
To assist the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach in leading a competitive and educational basketball program that promotes athletic excellence, academic achievement, teamwork, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing practice plans that focus on advanced basketball skills, team strategy, and game preparation.

• Provide individualized coaching and feedback to enhance player performance and confidence.

• Help plan and execute in-game strategies, substitutions, and adjustments.

• Support scouting of opponents and film review to aid player and team development.

• Foster a culture of respect, discipline, accountability, and sportsmanship within the program.

• Supervise athletes during all team activities, including practices, games, travel, and events.

• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and staff about schedules, expectations, and team updates.

• Assist in monitoring player academic progress and eligibility.

• Help maintain and organize equipment, uniforms, and program resources.

• Attend and participate in coaches’ meetings, clinics, and professional development as required.

• Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes both on and off the court.

• Assume Head Coach responsibilities when the Head Coach is unavailable.

• Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and state athletic association regulations.

Qualifications:

• Previous high school or collegiate coaching and/or playing experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive concepts, and game management.

• Ability to motivate, mentor, and connect with student-athletes.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Salaries for the sports and cheerleading schedule will be calculated by point value as
a % of BA step 10 of the current salary schedule (i.e. 8.0 = 8% of BA Lane step 10).
