Director of Facilities, Maintenance and Grounds Zumbrota - Mazeppa Public Schools

Salary Range: $70,000 - $78,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Days and Hours of Service: 261 days per year.
Typical hours assigned: 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday
Qualifications:
Current MN Boiler Engineer License (or willingness to obtain 1st Class MN Boilers License within one year) along with a combination of education and previous experience in facility management field or related field.

Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent of Schools
The Director of Facilities, Maintenance and Grounds will oversee and lead the district facilities programs and initiatives consistent with state requirements and Zumbrota - Mazeppa Public Schools Mission, Vision and Strategic Priorities. This role will be responsible for planning, communicating and leading assigned projects, systems and initiatives for the facilities department as directed by the Superintendent. The position will oversee and determine priorities and follow up all incoming maintenance and grounds requests including Custodial, Grounds, Health and Safety and General Facilities requests. The Director will manage purchases for the department and be responsible for monitoring the budget impact and providing timely request approvals. This position will work directly with school administration, and all district employees to deliver positive and effective facilities team results and district-wide communication. The position will require non-business hours support, participation in on-call and emergency response support teams, fluctuating hours and time in the field working directly within schools on projects and follow up with department initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
Provide excellent written and verbal communication across the departments, multiple audiences and platforms in alignment with state and district requirements. Active listening skills, flexibility, ability to work well with others and an overall positive attitude that reflects collaborative efforts and contributes to a team-centered, professional atmosphere that supports the academic mission of the Zumbrota - Mazeppa School District are essential to this position.
Ability to organize priorities, assess needs, problem solve, make decisions, and independently lead projects according to goals and objectives. Excellent computer skills and knowledgeable in the use of Google Suite (docs, forms, sheets, slides) along with considerable skill and experience with analyzing system and compliance data, recordkeeping, research, analysis and state reporting.
Ability to build strong and effective working relationships with vendors and district staff.
Coordinates all aspects of assigned projects by working independently with district staff and outside vendors to determine project scope and goals.
Knowledge of facilities operations and an understanding of LTFM budgets, codes and finance.
Understanding of building HVAC systems, adjustments and building set points.
Coordinates with custodial staff in managing the assignments, scheduling and any personnel issues, including processing leave requests for the custodial staff.
Monitors, prioritizes and assigns duties throughout the district facilities.
Communicates directly with department leaders about outstanding issues, future projects and emergencies.
Responds to after hours emergencies to ensure properly functioning systems, keeping the District budget in check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (not required):
Bachelor’s Degree in facility management or related field
3+ years experience in a supervisory or lead role
3+ years experience in a custodial or facility maintenance position
3+ years experience in Facilities within an educational facility
Must be willing to obtain a Class A Boiler Engineer license within 4 years.
