Long-Term Substitute – Physical Education Teacher

Position Summary

Swanville Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and energetic Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher to serve students in grades 7–12 from mid-November through December. The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes lifelong fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles in a supportive learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-based instruction in Physical Education (and Health, if assigned) aligned to Minnesota State Standards.
  
  

• Design and implement lessons that build fitness, skill development, and sportsmanship for a variety of student abilities.
  
  

• Supervise students safely during indoor and outdoor activities and manage facility and equipment use.
  
  

• Monitor, assess, and communicate student progress; maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
  
  

• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate that encourages active participation and respect.
  
  

• Collaborate with staff and administration to support student success and the overall school program.

Qualifications

• Required: Minnesota teaching license in Physical Education (5–12 or K–12) or eligibility for a short-call substitute license.

• Experience teaching or coaching at the secondary level.
  
  

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  
  

• Ability to motivate and engage students in physical fitness and teamwork.
  
  

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
