Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota License for driving school bus, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days.
Ability to supervise personnel in the areas of work assignments, maintenance and mechanical procedures and equipment operation.
Motor vehicle and mechanical knowledge and ability to repair and maintain both gasoline and diesel equipment and do body repair.
Knowledge of state laws relating to transportation, bus safety, and related functions or independent ability to learn the information. Assist with incident investigations.
Ability to work effectively and calmly with the public and others.
Self-driven and physically capable of heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to work overtime as necessary.
Graduation from high school or equivalency.
Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
Primary Duties:
Schedules all bus runs and plans routes using the bus routing operating system.
Maintains all necessary records and reports. Including, but not limited to vehicle mileage reports, special education, general education student reports, driver compliance and others as directed or necessary for safe and efficient work.
Responsible for training new drivers and keeping records in compliance with state and federal laws, through local, state, and federal databases.
Prepares all equipment for safety inspections and daily use.
Directs and assists in equipment maintenance and repair.
Supervises other related personnel.
Drives the bus as necessary.
Cleans Bus Garage, Office, and Garage Bathrooms.
Observe weather conditions and report to the Superintendent.
Makes orders and purchases necessary supplies and equipment.
Responsible for securing the building.
Help with ground maintenance as necessary, including snow removal.
Participates in evaluating bids, leases, and purchases.
Acts as the bus safety trainer and conducts safety meetings.
Assign routes to personnel, including overtime, in compliance with AFSCME contract.
Maintain primary contact for families needing changes to bus routes, in compliance with District procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Workday/Work Year: 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with one hour lunch.
Wages/Benefits: AFSCME CBA https://5il.co/36nbr ($45,499.96 - $53,529.36)
