Description: Under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, the Manager of Administrative Services oversees the formal Communications and Public Relations activities of the School District and provides direct support to the Superintendent of Schools and to the School Board. The Manager of Administrative Services serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituents on matters pertaining to the Office of the Superintendent and the School Board.  The Manager of Administrative Services performs administrative work of a high level with minimal supervision.  The Manager of Administrative Services provides an integral role in the daily administrative operations of the school district.

Job Summary:
1.  Provide Administrative Support to the Superintendent of Schools - Supports the Superintendent, including managing calendar; composing, editing, formatting documents and correspondence; screening and prioritizing mail and phone calls; making travel arrangements; coordinating and preparing for various administrative meetings; assisting with special projects and reports; gathering data or information as the Superintendent may require.
2.  Provide Administrative Support to the School Board - Supports the School Board, including the coordination and compiling of quarterly superintendent evaluations; handling conference registrations, travel arrangements and miscellaneous requests of the Board; and assisting with new board member orientation.
3.  Oversees Communication and Public Relations activities of the School District - Oversees implementation of the department’s strategic use of social media tools including, but not limited to blogs, Twitter, Wiki, Facebook and more.
4.  Administers community engagement and student choice process and procedures - Serves as the designated contact person for Open Enrollment; processes the application forms, communicates with parents, District staff, and other districts; sends required reports to the Minnesota Department of Education;. serves on District Crisis Team; serves as District notary.
5.  Performs other duties of the same or similar nature as assigned.

  • work a flexible yearly schedule with a flexible daily schedule, including possible evening and weekend work
Qualifications:

1.  BA/BS in Business, Communications or related area (Additional applicable experience may be substituted for formal education.)
2.  At least 5-7 years of experience in an executive administrative or communications level position
3.  Experience in generating reports and data and technical experience and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
4.  Ability to give direction concerning operational procedures to staff
