Visitation School is seeking a full-time Grounds Maintenance Technician to be a member of our Facilities Team working Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.  This position reports to the Facilities Director and is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of campus grounds to ensure that all exterior areas—including lawns, landscaping, athletic fields, parking lots, and walkways—are clean and well-kept.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

       Perform routine groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, weeding, pruning, and leaf removal.

       Operate and maintain a variety of landscape equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, snowblowers, and utility vehicles.

       Maintain flower beds, trees, and shrubs through planting, fertilizing, watering, and pest control.

       Perform seasonal maintenance including snow removal, salting, ice control, and debris cleanup.

       Support athletic field preparation, maintenance, and marking for school events.

       Assist with exterior maintenance projects such as minor irrigation repairs, drainage management, and pathway upkeep.

       Inspect grounds regularly to identify safety hazards, damage, or areas needing improvement and report issues promptly.

       Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working order; ensure proper storage and inventory control.

       Provide support for special events including setup, teardown, and site cleanup as needed.

       Collaborate with facilities staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of maintenance requests.

       Attend meetings and provide support for the Buildings and Grounds Committee.

       Other projects as assigned.


The ideal candidate will meet these requirements:

 

       High school diploma.

       Valid Driver’s license.

       Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time and be comfortable working in all outdoor conditions including inclement weather.

       Demonstrated experience using grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, all types of snow removal and lawn equipment, etc.

       Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules.

       Capable of lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working at heights.

       Skilled at working independently and as part of a team.

       Strong people skills - able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty/staff.

       Professional, positive demeanor and the capacity to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.

       Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize the needs of the building and grounds.

       Able to demonstrate and model the philosophies and spirit of Visitation School. “Salesian Spirituality” reflects gentle strength, dignity, patience and Christian humanism.

       Experience working in a school environment with existing knowledge of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition preferred.

Hourly Pay Range:  $24.00 - $27.00
