Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional - Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) Classrooms - 3 positions (Elementary, Middle and High School)
The EBD Paraprofessional supports students with emotional and behavioral needs in both general education and special education environments. This position focuses on building positive relationships, promoting emotional regulation, and helping students develop the skills needed to be successful in school. The ideal candidate is patient, calm, consistent, and able to follow behavior support plans with fidelity.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students receiving EBD services
Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs), sensory or regulation strategies, and crisis-prevention techniques
Support students in classrooms, small groups, or 1:1 as assigned
Assist students with organization, problem-solving, self-advocacy, and appropriate social skills
Help maintain a safe, structured, and predictable learning environment
Model and reinforce positive behavior and coping strategies
Accurately document student behavior, progress, and incidents
Collaborate with special education staff, general education staff, and related service providers
Participate in team meetings and professional development as required
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with district policies and state/federal law
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset
Willingness to be trained in CPI, de-escalation strategies, and behavior support practices
Preferred:
Previous experience working with children or youth
Experience in special education, mental health, or behavior support settings
Understanding of trauma-informed practices, PBIS, or restorative approaches
