Great Oaks Academy is seeking individuals who are interested in providing an environment of learning that entails bringing a rich curriculum of language, literature, ancient history, world studies and physical activity to every student. The school aims to challenge each student with a classical education as a foundation for empowering and scaffolding inquiry. This particular job posting reflects the duties and responsibilities of a Speech and Language Pathologist providing services and case management to students that have been identified as requiring special education services through an evaluation process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students while considering state and school requirements, and physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.
Works collaboratively with school staff to ensure continuity of adaptation to meet student needs.
Confers with parents, administrators, service providers, and others to develop an Individual Educational Program (IEP) for students.
Conducts comprehensive assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
Provides students with therapeutic services through individual or small group sessions.
Creates learning materials geared to each student’s ability and interest.
Instructs students to improve sensory-motor and perceptual-motor development, perception, memory, language, cognition, and social and emotional development.
Works with students to increase motivation, consistently reinforce learning, continually assess level of functioning, and provide continuous feedback to students for all learning activities.
Works with parents/guardians to accept and develop skills in dealing with a student''s disability.
Observes and complies with due process timelines and documentation expectations.
Participates in building leadership activities and being a team player.
Normal and regular attendance.

Required Education, License, Experience and Skills:
Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology, Communication Disorders or related area
Valid MN license (Pre K-12 Speech Language Pathologist) through the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, agency personnel and others.
Must be self-motivated, self-directed, collaborative and flexible.
Must clear pre-employment background check and substance abuse screening.
Desirable Qualifications:
Previous special education experience.
Classical Education working experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to operate a computer, copier, printer, fax and phone.
Must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, balance, stoop, sit on the floor, kneel and lift 50 pounds.
