Rate of Pay:    Per Master Agreement
Licensure:      MN K-6 Licensure

Elementary Teacher—Midway Star Academy, Saint Paul

Responsibilities:

·        Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas(s) for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.

·        Implement the goals and objectives of the school and/or program for which employed.

·        Follow the prescribed course of study, except as authorized in the curriculum outlines or by the principal or other official rules and regulations.

·        Evaluate student performance according to the system used by the school and/or; promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the superintendent.

·        Maintain contact and communications with the parents of students and work with them in the development of each student.

·        Perform classroom management duties; enforce School rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students who do not follow School rules.

·        Enforce School guidelines in regard to health and hygienic conditions and practices in the classroom as they may affect the physical and mental health of students.

·        Plan and facilitate an effective educational learning environment to meet the needs of a diverse community of learners.

·        Develop and maintain a program to meet the individual needs of each student in meeting the charter school''s standards.

·        Maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

·        Works as a collaborative staff member in planning instructional goals and objectives.

·        Teaches and models the charter school’s standards for ethical behavior in alignment with the School’s Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:
Minnesota elementary (K-6) teaching licensure is required.  Preparation and commitment to working effectively with diverse communities of learners; skill in providing for the individual learning needs of students; ability to create a positive, inclusive learning environment; skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches; ability to organize and plan for student learning; familiarity with current teaching/ learning theories; skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.  Qualifications for and willingness to work with extracurricular activities. 

Compensation:
