Performing Arts Center (PAC) - Manager
Part-time, Flexible Schedule
General Definition of Work:
The Performing Arts Center Manager has the daily responsibility for the operations of the Performing Arts Center (PAC), including set design and construction as well as coordinating maintenance and sound and lights. The PAC Manager is responsible for the scheduling of all events in the PAC and associated spaces. The PAC Manager will work on a flexible schedule basis, be present, and essential as expected and needed at most major events or programs at the PAC to ensure appropriate facility utilization. The PAC Manager works with a great deal of independence and exercises independent judgement in performing a wide variety of duties. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Community Education Director.

Essential Functions
- Understanding of light and sound systems, equipment, set-ups, safety, and security programs;
- Possess a high level motivation; capable of considerable self-direction; possessive of strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Ability to work with various individuals and groups, both school-based and community-based;
- Well-organized with evidence of the ability to receive information, process needs, create solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders;
- Familiarity with the technical needs of cultural and entertainment performance groups and contractual relationships;
- Determine the technical supports and special needs necessary for events and performances at the PAC in advance of production dates;
- Assist guest designers and artists with technical matters;
- Provide learning opportunities and instructional activities for NL-S students;
- Supervise and assist with set and stage construction and management;
- Assist in recruiting, training and assignment of student, volunteer or paid technical staff for individual shows;
- Be present for most events in the PAC and/or recruit and train event staff to stand in;
- Orient facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of the PAC and its operations;
- Arrange for the repair and replacement of equipment within budgetary constraints;
- Other duties as assigned
The individual will need the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, students, contractors, and others; effectively teach students and staff basic operation techniques; have a general understanding of technology; be comfortable in high stress, rapidly changing situations; clearly communicate with event staff and 3rd party vendors; plan and coordinate large events; able to perform basic functions in front of large crowds.
Education and ExperienceThe PAC Manager should have moderate experience working in a PAC environment or the ability to become acclimated with their inner workings. Knowledge of sound equipment and design (knowledge of Yamaha QL series and Dante networking is preferred). Knowledge of lighting equipment and design (knowledge of Strand Lighting NEO and DMX universes is preferred). Knowledge of basic and advanced troubleshooting techniques is required. Knowledge of safe rigging system practices is preferred. Knowledge of booking and managing performances.
Physical RequirementsThis work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force while lifting, pushing, and/or pulling; work regularly requires standing, walking, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions, frequently requires climbing, bending and/or balancing and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work will require occasional work over the railing of the catwalk system adjusting lights manually.

Wage
$4,743 - $5,863 per season depending on experience
