K-12 ELL Paraprofessional, Full time – Benson Public Schools District
Full time – 2025-26 School Year and beyond
DESCRIPTION:
The K–12 ELL Paraprofessional provides in-class, small-group, and one-on-one support to English Language Learners across grade levels and subject areas. This role collaborates with teachers to assist students in understanding course content, developing academic language, and navigating school routines. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, and passionate about supporting multilingual students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Provide in-class academic and language support to ELL students.
● Clarify instructions, scaffold assignments, and reinforce vocabulary and comprehension.
● Assist students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening tasks.
● Monitor student progress, work completion, and engagement.
● Collaborate with the ELL teacher and classroom teachers to implement accommodations and support strategies.
● Build positive relationships with students and promote cultural and linguistic inclusivity.
● Participate in professional development related to ELL support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school degree, GED, or equivalent experience; and
2. Holds one of the following to meet the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional requirement or will obtain within the probationary period:
- At least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits in Minnesota)
- An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree
- Obtain the PELSB Paraprofessional Credential
- Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment
- Passing score of 65% (or higher) for the Instructional Support test and 70% (or higher) for the Knowledge and Application test on the Minnesota Service Cooperatives ParaEducator Proctored Test
Starting range for this position is: $17.05-$21.72/hour
