The Sauk Rapids-Rice Public School District No. 47 is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist.  Located in Sauk Rapids, MN, minutes from downtown St. Cloud and approximately an hour northwest of the Twin Cities, Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools is an integral part of the Sauk Rapids and Rice communities, providing quality programs to over 4,500 students.

Job Summary:
Process payroll, tax, and time and attendance records and provide administrative support including employee consultation and compiling and analyzing payroll data.  Duties performed under the supervision of the Director of Business Services.


Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares and processes semi-monthly payroll for approximately 700 district employees
- Performs accurate processing, reporting, and timely payment of voluntary, statutory, and contract-related deductions, including federal and state taxes, group insurance, union dues, and 403(b) withholdings
- Prepares and submits semi-monthy, quarterly, and annual reports on FICA, TRA, PERA, Unemployment Compensation, State and Federal withholding, and W-2s
- Works closely with Human Resources Assistant to ensure employees are enrolled in voluntary benefits and employee deductions are calculated correctly
- Ensures compliance with collective bargaining and other employee agreements
- Monitors position changes within the district and updates corresponding systems
- Maintains employee payroll information and corresponds with employees regarding wages, deductions, direct deposit, retirement, benefits, etc.
- Administers employee self-service system as it relates to payroll and benefits
- Manages Frontline Time & Attendance in co-ordination with Human Resources Specialist
- Assists with year-end processing and providing reports for financial audit
- Helps with phone coverage if needed
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- 2-year post-secondary training in payroll, accounting, finance, human resources or related fields
- Minimum of 2-years of experience in payroll, accounting or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience utilizing accounting software and/or HR/Payroll systems
- Proven proficiency in technology and spreadsheet skills
- Must apply significant attention to detail and accuracy, and maintain strict confidentiality of personnel related information
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with employees at all levels of the District as well as people outside of the District.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with District Office staff and identify areas of efficiency and process improvement to help accomplish the goals of the District
- Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, rules policies, regulations, and labor contract language

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with payroll processing in a Minnesota public school district

Contract:
- Full-time position
- 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Monday through Friday
- 12 months per year (248 work days, 12 holidays)

Salary and Benefits based on full-time employment and may be pro-rated for part-time positions:
Salary range: $70,000 to $78,000
