The Shakopee Public School District is seeking a 1.0 FTE Long Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education (SPED) Teacher serving students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) in a center-based classroom at Red Oak Elementary. Approximate assignment dates are January 5, 2026 through March 13, 2026. 

Job Summary:
Responsible for delivering direct and indirect services to students with functional learning, adaptive and/or social, emotional and behavioral needs; ability to monitor and document student progress; ability to develop/manage IEPs and facilitate team meetings; ability to oversee paraprofessionals and collaborate with families and other staff on services and strategies.

Qualifications:

• Valid MN Special Education teaching license; the District may consider a Tier 1 or Tier 2 licensed candidates
• Prior teaching experience preferred
• Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction
• Strong classroom management skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff

Salary ranges from $51,000 to $120,813 depending upon education level and experience.

Working Conditions:
Physical ability to attend to personal care needs of students, if necessary. Classroom, office, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting, keyboarding, etc.
