Your Job:
As 5-8 Instructional Coach at Hennepin Schools, it is your responsibility to create and maintain a classroom that supports our mission to:
· Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths
· Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility
· Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community
· Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap
· Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child
Duties and Responsibilities: Grade 5-8 Academics
· Observe, model and coach middle school middle school teachers in real time in the classroom.
· Provide face-to-face coaching to middle school staff on a scheduled rotation.
· Provide each middle school teacher with information regarding effective strategies and education opportunities to assist with the middle school teacher’s progress toward proficiency.
· Develop PLC meeting agendas.
· Establish PLC meeting schedule that accommodates members and school goals.
· Maintain records, including meeting minutes, of all PLC meetings.
· Facilitate PLC meetings to assure that teams are working toward school goals.
· Analyze data and student work to plan reteach and further instruction.
· Monitor student achievement in all classes through analysis of exit slips, weekly quizzes, interim assessments, Fastbridge, MCA, and WIDA.
· Evaluate each staff formally using the school''s evaluation tool as a peer/coach reviewer.
· Collaborate with other evaluators and supervisors to ensure inter-rater reliability.
· Plan with grade levels to ensure consistency and rigor in instruction and assessment.
· Plan and provide professional development in August and throughout the school year.
· Order curriculum during the summer and as needed
· On a scheduled basis, keep administrators up to date on the academic progress, success, and needs at the school.
· Attend all training and team meetings as required.
Skills & Qualifications and Requirements:
· Highly qualified middle school teacher per Minnesota licensure and federal standards
· Minimum of 3 years teaching experience
· Flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic, collaborative and able to work with diverse teams.
· Proficient in communicating with other middle school teachers, specifically on instructional strategies and skills.
· Lifelong learner with knowledge and willingness to learn current and new research-based best practices that improve student learning.
· Strong skills in organization, leadership, communication and collaboration.
· Able to remain impartial and objective.
· Able to create trusting relationships with staff.
· Proficient working knowledge of state standards
· Experience and training in a wide range of instructional and student management strategies.
· Preferred knowledge of JMC data and grading system.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and Google Drive.
