General Definition of Work
Under the direction of building principals, the Licensed School Psychologist provides direct and indirect psychological services to students of all ages who are at risk of social or academic failure.
 
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Essential Functions
  • Provides psychologist services to students who are at-risk for school failure and/or are demonstrating social/emotional/behavioral problems within the school setting.
  • Administer and score psychological assessments: Conduct and interpret psychological and neuropsychological tests to evaluate students'' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  • Analyze and interpret developmental data: Measure intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development to provide tailored support for students'' growth.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans: Collaborate with school staff to create and execute strategies that address the specific educational needs of eligible students.
  • Provide direct counseling services: Offer individual and group counseling to students facing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.
  • Consult with staff and families: Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and apply effective interventions and support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and outcomes: Regularly evaluate the success of interventions and modify strategies to ensure students’ educational and personal success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings: Provide expertise on psychological assessments and strategies, ensuring students receive the appropriate accommodations and support as part of their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Respond to school crises: Offer crisis intervention services to students and staff during critical incidents, ensuring emotional and psychological stability.
  • Engage in professional development: Stay current with best practices, legal guidelines, and ethical standards related to school psychology and special education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of the principals, practices, and ethical standards of School Psychology; the relevant state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; and applicable district policies; Current knowledge of the community resources and support systems available to assist students and their families; Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with students, parents, and other educational professionals regarding student concerns and problems; Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; Ability to consult with school personnel in developing and implementing effective social and behavioral interventions for students; Ability to travel between and among school sites throughout the District and to students’ homes, as necessary; Ability to be flexible and prioritize activities.
 
Education and Experience
Minimum Bachelor''s Degree and Licensed as a School Psychologist by Professional Educator Licensing Standards Board (PELSB).

Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to handle or feel and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
 
Special Requirements
  • Applicable district or department training will be provided and must be completed upon hire.
  • Current license as a School Psychologist issued by Professional Educator Licensing Standards Board (PELSB).
  • If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 2 License in School Psychology.

Pay: $49,874 - $84,000 annually
        *dependent on education and experience
