Forest Lake Area School District is currently seeking applicants for the position of Special Education Coordinator to start February 11, 2026.

WORK SCHEDULE: | 8Hrs/day, 5 Days/week, & 260 days/year |
RATE OF PAY: | $115,337 per year |

Position Overview
The Special Education Coordinator leads Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) for children from birth to age five and coordinates special education services for grades K–5 across six elementary schools. This role ensures strong systems, legal compliance, and high-quality services for students and families. The coordinator works closely with principals, staff, and district leaders to solve problems and improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead ECSE programs for ages birth to five.
Coordinate special education services for elementary grades K–5 across six schools.
Ensure compliance with special education due process laws and timelines.
Use systems thinking to improve service delivery and consistency.
Plan, coordinate, and oversee Extended School Year (ESY) services.
Partner with building principals to address complex student and program needs.
Oversee ECSE Child Outcome Summary (COS) and Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).
Monitor service delivery, membership, and attendance.
Supervise and evaluate licensed staff and paraprofessionals.
Support strong instruction, inclusive practices, and positive team culture.
Required Qualifications
Minnesota Director of Special Education license.
Strong knowledge of ECSE and elementary special education programs.
Clear understanding of special education law and due process.
Experience with COS and DRDP systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior coordinator or administrative experience in ECSE or elementary settings.
Experience supervising and evaluating teaching and paraprofessional staff.
Experience leading system-level improvement efforts.
