Larimore Public Schools is seeking an energetic, student-centered 5–12 Band and Choir Instructor to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time position serving both Larimore High School (7–12) and Larimore Elementary School (5–6).
This role includes a combination of classroom instruction, small-group lessons, performance preparation, and regional music activities. The successful candidate will help continue Larimore’s strong tradition of student participation and pride in the arts.
Position Responsibilities
High School (Mornings):
- Morning prep time and individual lessons at Larimore High School
- 3rd Hour: Junior High Band/Choir (alternating days)
- 4th Hour: High School Band/Choir (alternating days)
Elementary School (Afternoons):
- Teach 5th/6th Grade Band
- 5th/6th Grade Choir (if scheduling allows)
- Provide small-group lessons for elementary band students
Co-Curricular / Advisor Duties (12.5% Add-On):
- Serve as Director of Band/Choir, which includes NDHSAA-sanctioned music activities and other regional events for junior and senior high students
- Coordinate and direct 3–4 local concerts per year
- Support and participate in major school events, including:
- Veterans Day Program
- Elementary Holiday Program
- High School Graduation
Salary & Benefits
- Base Salary (2026–2027): $44,250
- Additional 12.5% stipend for Director of Band/Choir role
- Benefits Package Includes:
- Single Health Insurance or $5,000 cash benefit
- Teacher Retirement: Employee 4.75% / Employer 19.75%
- Sick Leave: 10 days per year, accumulative to 80
- Personal Leave: 3 days per year, accumulative to 5
- Funeral Leave: 2 days per year
- Long-Term Disability Insurance
- $10,000 Life Insurance Policy
Qualifications
- North Dakota teaching license (or ability to obtain) with appropriate Music endorsements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with grades 5–12
- Commitment to building a positive and motivating learning environment
- Ability to organize performances, collaborate with staff, and engage the community through music
