Implementing Data Driven Decisions Having High Expectations Creating a safe Social-Emotional Learning Environment Job Summary Under the direction of the High School Principal, the Business Academy Teacher will teach Career Pathway Business courses such as business and marketing in coordination with our partner, Century College. The Business Academy Teacher will be responsible for coordinating with their counterparts at Century College to ensure that all courses are consistent with those taught at Century College. The Business Academy Teacher will teach with appropriate rigor as to prepare all students to succeed in post-secondary education ranging from two- or four-year colleges, apprenticeships, or certification programs, and to be successful in the workplace. The Business Academy Teacher will be responsible for networking with local business professionals to provide opportunities for guest speakers as well as advise as to industry trends that should be considered and included in CSE courses. Responsibilities Planning and preparation: Develop lesson plans that meet the requirements of the school?s academic plan; Design lesson plans that reflect differentiation in student learning styles and abilities; Prepare instructional materials, books, equipment to adequately deliver lessons plans; Prepare lessons that engage, meet individual needs, and interests of students; Provide adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers; and Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files. Instruction and assessment: Prepare unit plans and conduct daily classroom instruction to appropriate instructional level; Use a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing pupils, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and lectures; Observe and evaluate students to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement; Use informal and formal assessments to monitor student performance; Ensure instructional practice and curriculum foster critical inquiry, analysis, and evaluation; and Integrate technology and media as appropriate to teach lessons that engage students and further enhance their knowledge. Classroom Management: Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment; Clearly establish effective rules and procedures that mirror school wide expectations to help students identify expectations and appropriate behavior; Maintain order and implement disciplinary actions for student misbehavior when necessary; Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students both academically and socially; Communicate, motivate and build relationships with students; and Provide feedback to students and parents on a student?s progress at conferences and other meetings. Instruction Deliver classroom and individualized instruction by implementing instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in a meaningful learning experience and adhere to the District philosophy and mission; Prepare instruction and lesson plans related to individualized goals and objectives on IEPs; Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying abilities; Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process; Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification; and Assist and organize the work of educational assistants working in program areas. Position Specifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities General knowledge of technology and ability to use email, internet, word processing software, spreadsheets, smart board technology, and Google applications; Work well with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds; Be knowledgeable of and adhere to school values, code of conduct, policies and procedures; Provide direction and supervision for all school activities to which assigned (coach, supervisor, chaperon, etc.); Participate in the development and implementation of district goals and plans; and Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Master?s Degree preferred. A valid Minnesota Teacher''s License (applicable level-area endorsements preferred). Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience. Job Summary
