Implementing Data Driven Decisions Having High Expectations Creating a safe Social-Emotional Learning Environment Job Summary The Karenni Family Liaison will serve as a resource to the school and community in Karenni/Karen language and culture. This position will be responsible for ensuring effective communication between the Karenni/Karen community, students, parents and CSE staff. This position will also support the Family and Community Engagement Manager in creating and implementing outreach and recruitment efforts for CSE. This position will report directly to the Chief Operations Director. Responsibilities Communication and Outreach (40%) Serve as a liaison between the school and the Karenni/Karen parents/families. Build relationships with the Karenni/Karen parent community through ongoing personal contact Respond to general inquiries and requests from Karenni/ Karen speaking families Communicate details regarding CSE meetings, school events and emergencies. Contact parents to encourage parental involvement and maintain records of parent participation in school events. Coordinate transportation for students and parents for meetings, school events or as needed. Attend and assist with school and community events as needed. Work with prospective parents to enroll new students. Assist in recruiting Karenni/Karen speaking event staff or as needed. Assist and/or refer families to relevant agencies with social services to assist families and students. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Academic (30%) Provide feedback to Karenni/Karen parents on a student?s progress at conferences and other meetings Participates in home visits to students as needed. Provide Academic support for students as needed Provide feedback and suggestions to teachers regarding students? learning when needed. Administrative (30%) Interpret and translate for parents and CSE staff. Answers routine telephone inquiries regarding department programs and procedures. Support Enrollment Process Maintain student records and data entry Support with planning and implementation on monthly family engagement. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Position Specifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Bilingual in English, and Karen or Karenni preferred Experience and aptitude working with young children High level of patience and ability to calmly and clearly redirect and guide young children Demonstrated multi-cultural experience and ability to communicate with limited-English speakers Demonstrates superior judgment in all aspects of work. Ability to meet deadlines and hold oneself accountable to meeting deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player. Familiarity and comfort with electronic forms of communication, including ready access and responsiveness to e-mail correspondence. Qualifications AA degree; preferred BA degree Minimum of 2 year experience, especially with office administration work Ability to multi-task and handle high volume of interruptions Ability to speak conversational Karenni, preferably read and write in Karenni Knowledge of Karenni/Karen culture and issues facing Southeast Asian communities, especially Karenni/Karen families. Job Summary

Position Specifications
