Position Overview Ortonville School District is seeking a collaborative, student-centered Special Education Teacher to serve at the secondary level (grades 7?12). We are looking for an educator who can combine strong instructional practices with high-quality case management so students with disabilities have meaningful access to grade-level learning, career pathways, and postsecondary readiness. HEAD BOYS BASKETBALL COACH POSITION AVAILABLE - Not required with this teaching position. While all special education disability categories will be considered, emphasis will be given to candidates with experience supporting students at the secondary level. Key Responsibilities · Case manage and implement IEPs for students in grades 7?12, including services, accommodations, progress monitoring, and required documentation. · Provide direct instruction and/or teaching support using evidence-based practices that increase student skill development and access to rigorous coursework. · Collaborate with general education teachers to design inclusive supports and implement accommodations and modifications as needed. · Support evaluation activities, data collection, and compliance timelines aligned to special education due process requirements. · Develop and monitor measurable goals, collect progress data, and communicate progress clearly with students and families. · Contribute to transition planning for older students, including academic planning, employability skills, and postsecondary readiness. · Coordinate with related service providers and support staff to ensure coherent programming and consistent student supports. Preferred Qualifications · Secondary special education experience (grades 7?12) in inclusive and/or resource models. · Strength in goal writing, progress monitoring, and instructional planning for adolescents. · Experience with executive functioning supports, behavior systems, transition assessment and planning. · Strong communication and relationship-building with students, families, and colleagues.
