Position Description: K-5 Korean Immersion Teacher, 2026-2027 school year

Job Location:  Sejong Academy Charter School, 2410 Stillwater Rd E, Maplewood, MN 55119

Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at the school on the specified days and hours. The position hours during the school year are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

Essential Functions: Essential duties may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills.  Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function.  Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Responsibilities:

·       Develop and maintain long-range and daily instructional plans based on Sejong Academy’s Korean Immersion curriculum that fosters thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.

·       Provide effective, developmentally-appropriate and differentiated instruction for diverse learners

·       Promote students'' comprehension of and interaction in a respectful environment

·       Regularly assess student learning of subject content and language using multiple forms of assessment.

·       Promote cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control among students, as well as conflict resolution strategies.  Establish developmentally-appropriate behavioral expectations for students.

·       Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices based on the students’ needs and abilities

·       Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions.  Promote family involvement to support student learning.

·       Attend Staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required

·       Meet Sejong Academy’s standards for performance, collegiality and attendance.

·       Promote a positive school climate with the Sejong Community

Qualifications:

·       Current MN teaching license or endorsement in one of the following:

o   Elementary Education

o   Korean Language

·       High level of Korean language fluency required for Korean Immersion

·       Classroom and Curriculum development experience

·       Experience teaching in a team environment and is a positive thinking colleague

·       Demonstrates continued professional development through coursework, action research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.

·       Prior success with diverse learners is desirable.

·       Working knowledge of effective classroom management techniques and current researched best practices and strategies as well as students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.

·       Familiarity with/training in Responsive Classroom and Immersion teaching preferred.
