Achieve Language Academy JOB DESCRIPTION
| JOB TITLE: Special Education Early Childhood Teacher |
| SUPERVISOR: Special Education Coordinator/Administrator |
| JOB SUMMARY: Manage and conduct Early Childhood Screenings (ECS) at ALA |
1. Regularly meet and plan with the Special Education Coordinator to create processes and procedures to ensure a consistent department.
2. With Special Education Coordinator, create and review required materials for MDE (e.g. TSES manual)
3. Work with special education teaching programs to coordinate student teaching and field placements.
4. Train staff on processes and procedures within the department.
5. Review paperwork for Due Process compliance and act as point of contact for Due Process questions.
6. Create and provide templates for Due Process paperwork to ensure consistency across the department.
7. Facilitate conflict resolution meetings between special education teachers and general education teachers.
8. Attend Monitoring and Compliance MDE trainings.
9. Lead Monitoring and Compliance reviews.
10. Train, supervise and oversee scheduling for paraprofessionals.
11. Identify and train on appropriate Tier II interventions for CTARS plans.
12. Work with Special Education Coordinator in assisting with complex student/parent needs. 13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: A valid Special Education teaching license issued by the Minnesota
Department of Education. A Masters Degree in special education is preferred.
5 years experience or more of special education teaching and mentoring special education
teachers experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, school staff, administration and community
members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
