Start Your Online Application Now Position Title: High School Special Education Teacher: ASD Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year Location: Mahtomedi High School FTE: 1.0 Mahtomedi Public Schools is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Mahtomedi High School special education team. About the Position: This position is primarily responsible for overseeing case management and providing special education services and supports to students receiving services under Autism Spectrum Disorder. The ideal candidate will have strong instructional skills in the areas of literacy, math, executive functioning and transition. Caseload: Approximately15-20 students Student Eligibility Categories: ASD/OHD/DCD Other: Daily prep (1 period) and case management (1 period) time each day Due Process Assistants manage scheduling of meetings and filing paperwork School psychologist/department lead at the school On-site mental health therapist and mental health practitioner (CTSS) The position is full-time, part of the teacher bargaining unit. Salary and benefits part of the Master Agreement. Duties and Responsibilities: Identify the needs of assigned students with disabilities through formal and informal assessments Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth Communicate with students, parents and staff on a regular basis regarding student progress Write IEP''s (Individual Educational Plans) and complete other due process requirements in accordance to MDE regulations Lead and facilitate IEP meetings Create and implement behavior intervention plans Attend department, school and parent meetings Provide program guidance to paraprofessionals Other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Bachelor''s degree; Special Education ASD or ABS teaching license or able to obtain appropriate license from PELSB , Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board. Preferred Experience: Ability to teach students with significant needs in the areas of social, emotional, behavioral and academic development utilizing a progression of interventions. The ideal candidate should be passionate about creating a dynamic and engaging program environment that provides direct instruction to a variety of learning needs for students who receive services under ASD. Salary and Benefits: Salary: Salary and benefits part of the Teacher Master Contract. Salary placement is based on experience and education level, as per district guidelines.
