Crookston Public Schools Location: Highland Elementary School Position Type: Part-Time (6.5 hours per day, School Year Schedule) Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Cook to lead our elementary school kitchen operations. This position plays a vital role in providing nutritious, appealing meals to young students while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, values teamwork, and is committed to high standards of food quality and safety. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and serve daily breakfast and lunch meals in accordance with school nutrition guidelines Oversee kitchen operations, including food ordering, inventory, and cost control Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations Supervise and support kitchen staff as needed Maintain accurate production records and reports Accommodate special dietary needs and food allergies Foster a positive and respectful environment for students and staff Qualifications: Previous cooking experience required; school or institutional food service experience preferred Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication skills ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment) Schedule & Benefits: 6.5 hours per day, following the school calendar Paid holidays Paid sick leave and personal leave Health insurance benefits available Eligible for Minnesota PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) retirement benefits How to Apply: Please submit your application, resume, and any relevant certifications to Emily Scheresky, Food Service Director at 218-281-5600 or email emilyscheresky@isd593.org .
