Strategic Behavioral Solutions, an organization supporting special education in schools, is seeking individuals with interest in working with children for the 26-27 school year. We provide intensive training that supports specific methods for intervention and prepares you for a successful career. All of our employees live and work around the twin cities and receive support and training, in person, every month.
Job Summary:
Under direction and close supervision of Director of Behavioral Services and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts, the individual provides behavior-analytic services for students using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Fully understand and ensure the fidelity of the implementation of the developed behavioral plan for identified students.
- Direct/redirect the work and responsibilities of educational assistants who work with student(s) as it relates to implementation of the behavioral intervention plan.
- Work with identified student(s) to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher(s) in developing strategies for reinforcing skills based on understanding of student needs, interests and abilities.
- Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
- Assist student with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and positioning.
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, toileting needs and personal hygiene.
- Assist student while in general education classes.
- Help manage behavior of all students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior using Professional Crisis Management (PCM) strategies, as needed.
- Guide students in working and playing appropriately.
- Track progress of academic and behavioral interventions through data collection.
- Assist and supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the special education classroom.
- Mediate with students to teach appropriate alternatives to negative and destructive behaviors.
- Facilitate communication with staff and school district representatives regarding the student’s progress.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

- High School Diploma/GED required, Associate''s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Behavior Technician certification from the BACB preferred.
- Prefer previous successful experience working with students with severe physical and aggressive behavior.
- Prefer experience or training in how to deal with students with autism.
- Current and continuing certification in Professional Crisis Management (PCM) preferred.
- Ability to fully implement all aspects of student’s behavior plan as written.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students, employees at all levels in the organization and with others in the community.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others including students at age level of assigned position; including providing direction to other staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students and staff.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to collect and interpret student data.
- Ability and proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis.
If hired, the successful candidate will complete a company training program in the Twin Cities area. The initial training program will last approximately 2 weeks, including required monthly supervision meetings throughout employment at various locations within the Twin Cities area.
Physical Requirements:
- The applicant must have the ability and desire to work closely with students in a school setting who can be very aggressive and strong.
- Other requirements include: ability to lift students weighing approximately 50 lbs. and ability to perform two (2) person lifts for students over 50 lbs; use keyboard to input information into computer; occasional presentation of information to individuals or small groups.

Salary ranges from $40,000 – 50,000 depending upon education level and experience.
