K-8 STEM Specialist Gateway STEM Academy Location: Saint Paul, MN Type: Full-Time School Year: 2026-2027 Position Summary Gateway STEM Academy, a K-8 charter school in Saint Paul, MN, is seeking a passionate and innovative K-8 STEM Specialist to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, hands-on STEM instruction through Project Lead The Way (PLTW) , integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into meaningful, real-world learning experiences. Training and support will be provided for PLTW implementation. This role requires collaboration with classroom teachers, leadership in school-wide STEM initiatives, and a commitment to culturally responsive, student-centered instruction. Key Responsibilities Teach standards-aligned PLTW modules to students in grades K?8, creating dynamic, hands-on learning experiences. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate STEM practices into core instruction and interdisciplinary projects. Foster a school-wide culture of inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving . Design and implement project-based learning , engineering design challenges, and technology-rich activities to enhance student engagement and understanding. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure equitable access to STEM learning opportunities . Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions. Connect STEM learning to real-world applications, career pathways, and cross-disciplinary themes . Maintain regular communication with families to share student progress and ways to support STEM learning at home . Participate in ongoing professional development , including PLTW training and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in Education, STEM field, or a closely related discipline ( Master?s preferred ). Valid Minnesota teaching license (elementary or middle-level, with strong STEM background). Experience teaching or leading STEM instruction in K?8 settings ( preferred, but not required ). Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices . Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive relationships with students. Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and using student data to guide practice.
