The EL teacher will engage in 9-12 EL program development and alignment. License / Education Requirements: Bachelor''s Degree required. Valid Minnesota Teaching License and EL license. Experience EL teaching experience preferred. Must be fluent in English and preferably Spanish. Demonstrates knowledge of second language learning patterns and best practices in English language development. Demonstrates knowledge of WIDA standards and has experience implementing these standards in an educational system. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary in evaluating individual learning styles and needs, which results in planning for an appropriate course of study for individual students. Plans and delivers lessons in English language development. Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of ELs across content areas. Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and ensure student achievement. Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families. Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for limited English-speaking students within the school system. Possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home. Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration, and families. Possess and utilize those personal skills necessary for the improvement of student attitudes toward learning and school. Attend district EL meetings and professional development offerings. The EL teacher will engage in 9-12 EL program development and alignment.  

 

License / Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor''s Degree required.
  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License and EL license. 

 

Experience

  • EL teaching experience preferred. Must be fluent in English and preferably Spanish.
