Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 08/19/2026 Job Description: Real World Ready Teacher Grades 9-12 Schedule: Mon- Fri 7a-3p 173 days per year Position Summary: Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering content aligned to Real World Ready (or specified) Standards using best practices to provide differentiated and rigorous instruction for all students within assigned classroom/subject area(s). Teachers evaluate the needs and abilities of students and determine methods and techniques to best present and provide instruction to students. Teachers ensure students show continuous improvement in learning basics and essential skills. Teachers are responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. Focus The Real World Ready course has a large focus on character development. The curriculum is based on the Leader in Me program created by Stephen Covey. Eight different habits will be examined. Students will utilize case studies, discussions, ethical dilemmas and a variety of other activities to examine how these leadership habits will impact them in the Real World. Students will research careers that may be a good fit for them. They will select a few different career paths and investigate the steps needed to follow to pursue those occupations. Also, exploring the possibility of entering into a work-based learning opportunity or apprenticeship while in high school will be an option for some students. Personal finance is important for our students'' financial lives as they are beginning to think about banking or credit card accounts, taking out student loans and fending for themselves in the Real World. It is important for our students to be financially literate before making these life changing decisions. Students will utilize the Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition created by Dave Ramsey to improve their financial literacy. The program covers topics such as saving, budgeting, debt, life after high school, consumer awareness, investing, retirement, insurance, the impact of money on relationships, careers, taxes and giving to others. Service learning and building a plan for their future. Students will be asked to participate in service learning opportunities and also look at how they can continue to serve the community after graduation. In addition, students will be asked to take steps to allow them to be successful after graduation. 173 Teacher Days; 156 Student Days; QComp for additional pay; will consider paying for additional licensing/certification as needed. Potential Courseload 2 periods - Real World Ready 1 period - Work-based learning Course (2 days per week) 1 period - Service Learning Elective 1 period - Online Edgenuity Program monitoring and support for students 1 period - Work-based learning monitoring and connection with employers 1 period - Prep Essential Planning and Preparation Responsibilities: Demonstrates solid prerequisite knowledge and content pedagogy. Demonstrates knowledge of students'' developmental learning, skills, abilities, special medical or learning needs, and cultural heritage. Sets instructional outcomes aligned to Minnesota State (or specified) Standards and Benchmarks with rigorous learning targets. Designs coherent instruction for rigor, support of learning targets, differentiation, interdisciplinary, and extended learning opportunities. Assists with ongoing curriculum review, under the guidance of administration. Essential Classroom Environment Responsibilities: Creates an environment where teacher-student and student-student relationships reflect respect and rapport with genuine warmth and care, mindful of the age and culture of groups of students. Establishes a culture for teacher and student learning that shows enthusiasm for, and commitment to, the content, outcomes, and activities. Conveys high expectations for students and the importance of high-quality work that students take pride in. Manages classroom procedures, routines, and transitions seamlessly to ensure student productivity and little waste of instructional time. Ensures standards for student behavior are clear to all students; monitored consistently; and responded to appropriately, successfully, and respectfully. Creates a safe learning environment with an established culture of learning and where students are encouraged to take learning risks to develop intellectually. Organizes physical environment for safety, and ensures learning is accessible to all and physical resources are arranged for learning. Essential Instruction Responsibilities: Communicates clear purpose, directions, procedures, and explanations with students, situated within learning, and connected to students'' knowledge and experience. Engages students in learning consistently due to appropriate activities, assignments, groupings, and/or materials/resources. Instruction has clearly defined structure and pacing is appropriate. Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to student learning by accommodating students'' questions/interests, and persists in seeking approaches for students who have difficulty learning, drawing on a broad repertoire of strategies. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Education. Work-based learning license preferred. Valid and current MN Teachers license.
