Work is performed under the supervision of the Principal and Director of Special Support Services. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Essential Functions Works with students in both the special education and general education settings with various issues. Instructs group and individual therapeutic services. Instructs prevention programs within classrooms. Collaborates and consults with the school staff, as well as outside community agencies and organizations. Works with crisis prevention and interventions. Records various notes and records. Coordinates and facilitates various training programs for staff. Assists with planning special events. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods and techniques used for assessing sociological needs of individual students; thorough knowledge of federal and state mandates and local procedures and regulations relating to social and community support programs; thorough skill communicating orally and in writing; thorough skill using standard office equipment and related hardware and software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, other school personnel and community agencies. Education and Experience Bachelor''s degree in social work, or related field and minimal experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master''s degree preferred. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Special Requirements Social work license. School social work license. Applicable district or department training will be provided and must be completed upon hire.
