It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district''s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Position Summary: A School Counselor or School Social Worker plays a critical role in supporting students'' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, they ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to student support services and advocate for equitable access to resources that enhance student achievement and well-being. Essential Duties: The preferred candidate will be expected to provide educational and mental health intervention to students, offering counseling services, crisis intervention, and individualized support to help students overcome challenges impacting their learning and well-being. They will consult with staff, teachers, and parents to address student issues, promote social-emotional development, and support academic success. The candidate will develop strategies for fostering a positive school climate and engaging in trauma-informed practices. Additionally, they will inspire students to develop confidence, competence, and courage to achieve their dreams, contribute to the community, and pursue lifelong learning. The role involves providing services to meet the needs of the assigned caseload and leading efforts to enhance student development across grade levels. Key Responsibilities: The School Counselor or School Social Worker provides comprehensive student support services, addressing academic, social-emotional, and mental health needs to promote student success. This role is essential in helping students overcome challenges, access resources, and achieve success in school and beyond.Key responsibilities include: Student Support & Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling to support students'' emotional well-being, social skills, and academic success. Crisis Intervention: Respond to student crises, assess risk factors, and connect families with appropriate resources. Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to develop intervention plans and ensure student support. Special Education & 504 Compliance: Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. Behavioral & Social-Emotional Interventions: Implement strategies to address behavioral concerns and promote positive student development. Community & Family Engagement: Connect students and families with school and community-based services for additional support. School Climate & Wellness Initiatives: Develop and implement programs that foster a positive, inclusive school environment. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to state and federal regulations related to student support services. Other: Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: Master''s degree in school counseling or a related field or Bachelor''s or master''s degree in social work (MSW preferred) from an accredited program. License: MN K-12 School Social Worker or School Counselor License.
