The successful candidate will make a positive contribution to improving student academic and social/emotional behaviors in support of our mission. The successful candidate will teach two year long sections of 7th or 8th grade language arts. Additionally, the candidate will teach a 1 trimester pre-language arts 9 class and 8 trimester sections of Career Life Prep. Career Life Prep is a required 8th grade "elective" that allows students to explore their potential career interests aligned to their individual strengths. DHS endeavors to get students thinking early about their career goals so as to make their 9-12 grade high school career intentional. In addition to career and college exploration, students will engage in a variety of projects based on language arts standards that will gain them experience with public speaking, video editing, and collaboration. POSITION DETAILS: Location : Delano High School Hours : 8 hours/day (7:30 to 3:30) Anticipated Start Date: August 2026 Salary and Benefits: Please consult the Master Agreement Salary: Schedule B, page 45 Benefits: Health Insurance - district contribution towards premiums; pages 17-18; Dental Insurance - district contribution towards premiums; page 20; Life and LTD - page 20; 403b - Eligible for district contribution after 3rd year of full-time employment; pages 15-16 ESSENTIAL DUTIES Collaborate with school and district staff to acquire and/or create a highly effective and rigorous curriculum. Effectively create and deliver daily lessons and provide needed support for students to achieve learning objectives and broader learning goals. Maintain and report accurate student attendance and performance records Collaborate effectively with school and district staff as part of a department team and other leadership committees. Effectively deploy classroom management strategies in support of positive school and classroom culture and climate Uses flexible thinking and has the adaptability to address student needs and respond calmly during crisis situations. Provide instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff including creating and assigning activities, instructional oversight and providing general guidance. Communicate with parents in a timely manner. Maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community. Work collaboratively with parents and other staff members to reinforce the educational program and advocate for each student. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide effective teaching strategies while adhering to the district philosophy and vision. Create a classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners. Translate lesson plans into learning experience in a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies. Other duties as assigned by the building principal. QUALIFICATIONS Required : An appropriate MN professional teaching license (7-12 Communication Arts) or the ability to attain one.
